Why is important for a teacher to be familiar with children’s growth and development?
Posted by teacher on June 21, 2010A teacher needs to be familiar with children’s growth and development because it is important for a teacher to know where a child is developmentally. Every child develops differently, but at particular ages a child should be able to do particular things. If a child cannot do these things they are some what developmentally delayed and there could be a bigger reason for this. A teacher deals with students on a daily basis and it is the teachers responsibility to help that child learn to their greatest potential. If a child has not fully developed to where their age should be, a teacher needs to be able to recognize this in order to find alternative ways to help that student learn.
